Job Overview

As an Application Consultant you will be joining our Remote Banking and Shared Services technology team specifically to be a part of their application solution design team. You will assist the Director and Sr. Director of Strategy & Design in developing short and long term strategies on various domains.  Domains include but are not limited to Enterprise Integration (Web Services & Browsers), Messaging, Product Catalogue and Application Security.


What You Need To Know
    • Provide a leadership role in formulating Solution design and mapping the applications architecture to the chosen technology platform
    • Define application components, platforms, interfaces, and development tools
    • Provide technical guidance to application development teams
    • Create and recommend application solution designs with activities, tools and techniques for converting business requirements and logical models into a technical application design
    • Make recommendations on best development practices using formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new or enhanced applications
    • Coordinate solution estimate and development efforts across the organization in response to client requests
    • Present technology solutions on new and existing initiatives to senior executives and across the organization
    • Be able to analyze, negotiate, and communicate cost, effort, and solution approach for various initiatives
    • Act as a change agent and be able to present and communicate new ideas, products, and technology solutions
    • Translate user requirements to create design documents and prepare the development plan to ensure that the design meets business needs
    •   Identify technical risks with project delivery solution designs
    • Listen and understand business long term goals and develop a long term road map that will meet in assisting client needs
    • Providing application solutions or making technology selection decisions that are often made in situations where business requirements are not completely defined or changing
    • Develop and maintain roadmaps reflecting the technical and business’ s strategic direction 
    • Assess the impact of our  technology initiatives and procedures and making adjustments to internal operations as necessary to improve productivity
    • Determine the feasibility of new products / systems by analyzing market/economic data, competitor practices, vendor viability and our architectural fit
    • Must have 5-10 years of experience as a Solution Designer
    • Must have a strong background in application development
    • Must have excellent communication skills in order to provide guidance and recommendations to clients
    • Must have knowledge of the application delivery process, application design and architecture
    • Must have proven experience in relationship building and management
    • Previous experience
    • Understanding of Retail Banking applications considered an asset
    • Previous experience with ESB applications such as Datapower or OSB considered an asset
    • Previous experience with any of the following technologies considered an asset: Rational Unified Process, Agile Software Development, SOA Design Patterns, Java EE, JSP, JMS, JMX, JAX-WS, SOA, WebServices, BPE, Oracle Weblogic, Oracle DB, and PRPC
