POSITION SUMMARY
Participate in the production support and change management of various business applications used by the Investment and Finance groups. RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY

An Infrastructure Engineering Lead is a senior technical leader is accountable for data centre infrastructure design and works with various service providers to oversee implementation. Responsible for planning, gathering and translating technical requirements into infrastructure solution designs in alignment with business needs. This role is additionally responsible for managing services, processes and KPIs, related to system design effectiveness, requirements traceability, customer and partner satisfaction, system design quality and system availability in order to take proactive actions and deliver expected levels of system capability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Analyse System Requirements

- Analyse existing Infrastructure systems to ensure they are effectively meeting the needs of the organization.

- Coordinate with all areas of the organization to see that the system is working as optimally as it should.

- Analyse business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions.

Recommend Alternative Technologies and Improvements

- Based on their knowledge of IT and their analysis of the systems’ needs, the Infrastructure Lead may recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals.

- These recommendations are presented clearly and understandably to senior management.

Lead Design and Review of New Systems

- Lead the design and review processes for new Infrastructure systems.

- Develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new system.

- Work with the integration and implementation service providers / teams to ensure proper understanding of the IT system design(s).

- Responsible for artifact management relating to design standards, templates, patterns and other design documentation standard

Plan for Integration

- Lead in the creation of detailed plans/approaches for the integration of new systems into existing infrastructure design/ architecture. This includes logistical plans for the Operations areas to actually conduct the physical integrations, during which the Infrastructure Lead provides technical direction and support.

Evaluate Projects

- After a new system has been integrated, the Infrastructure Lead participates in evaluating the success of the project, identifying best practices and lessons learned. They provide feedback to leadership and incorporate this information into future integration plans. General

- Minimize system integration complexity while maintaining system reliability and business continuity objectives.

Technical Skills & Presence - The technical authority in multiple areas of ETS IT. Understands & applies the strategic direction of the organization and the supporting IT systems and system Architecture.

Leads technology innovation - Implements improved technical solutions. Designs and implements innovative solutions to advance business opportunities.

Subject Matter Expertise - Actively seeks, provides or coordinates internal or external training for ETS IT employees. Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and mentors system engineers on technical specialties.

Technical Strategic Planning - Coordinates development of technical standards and processes between IS and business areas. Demonstrates ability to translate organizational structures to technical Architectures.

Technical Alignment to Business Needs and Technical Solutions - Practical approach to solving business needs with optimal technical approach. Advocates for appropriate technologies to solve business problems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Studies, IT or relevant experience

- 10+ years of experience in IT

- 5 + years of experience in designing Enterprise Infrastructures running various Computer, Network & Storage ecosystems

- 5 + years of experience with Enterprise Storage Area Networks (HDS and EMC)

- Candidate should understand global information technology service models.

- Strong ability to perform and understand financial modelling.? Experience working with a Global Service Provider? Understands Service Provider governance models

- Strong knowledge of common IT organizational functions, inter-relations and dependencies

- Excellent communicator, demonstrating strong interpersonal and presentation skills

5 + years of experience with the following technologies:

This is a project to apply a new policy. Network QoS implementation end-to-end for 13+ Ontario locations identified as part of the initial Lync as a PBX conversion

They will be working with other people but the actual work is on evenings or weekends (12-8 PM shift)

• Act as the primary implementation engineer for the update of end-to-end QoS configuration, in accordance with design/standards delivered by the  Network Engineering team, for a number of campus locations across Ontario. 
• Review the in-scope network infrastructure and formulate an action plan to update the configuration to comply with standards provided by Network Engineering, including the clean-up/removal of any unnecessary legacy configuration. 
• Work with the project team and network engineering to establish timelines for implementation. 
• Liaise with  internal network engineers and architects to resolve any design or software related problems that may arise throughout the course of the project. 
• Ensure that QoS configuration is implemented consistently and successfully across all locations in scope for this project. 
• Perform network QoS implementations outside of standard work hours to align with established maintenance windows (evenings work primarily; working from home with adjusted work hours is a possibility) following standard corporate change management processes. 
• Provide regularly reporting of overall project status to the project delivery manager and direct manager on a regular basis.

Internal ProVision Introduction:   User Experience Specialist 

The City of Toronto is aggressively upgrading its’ online web applications to ensure AODA Compliance and to ensure certain usability standards are met. With the focus on the development of a new " service oriented" and " citizen-centric" design that will conform with the new City of Toronto website design.

The User Experience Specialist will join the design team for Common Components, and will be responsible for identifying the user audiences for many different online web applications; assessing user requirements, needs and satisfaction levels; creating and testing user interface designs, prototypes and specifications across multiple platforms and browsers; ensuring all designs and implementations meet AODA Compliance WCAG 2.0 Level AA; designing and conducting usability tests at various stages of the development process; analyzing the results of these tests and making recommendations to improve the design and functionality; developing and publishing usability guidelines to provide developers with tools in the design process; and creating, promoting and supporting a corporate standard for usability excellence.

The User Experience Specialist will be required to work at 200 Wellington St, 16th floor (or any other location within the City of Toronto), seven (7) hours per day, five (5) days per week based on normal City working hours.

The User Experience Specialist will be involved in the process of analyzing site metrics and site user behaviour that will inform the site redesign process, and will assist with the stakeholder and user consultations required to develop, test and refine design concepts for the City’ s public web applications.

 

Targeted Experience and Skills:

7+ years of ' progressively more responsible' experience working on web information technology projects that are large-scale or in complex environments, preferably municipal public sector.

A minimum of 5+ years experience working as a User Experience Specialist in a large enterprise environment comparable in size to the City of Toronto. Experience in web development projects for large public service organizations, preferably municipal, is required.

3+ years experience working in website and web application development/design projects using enterprise scale web content management & portal technology.

7+ years experience leading enterprise website and web application development/design projects including content development for the web, site and application design, web site construction, navigation and management.

5+ years experience developing and implementing interactive media technologies demonstrating a comprehensive grasp of online media and social media tools and issues
